Quick Reflections on nature of Truth
"...It [the letter from IAEA] said the report falsely described Iran to have enriched uranium at its pilot centrifuge plant to weapons-grade level in April, whereas IAEA inspectors had made clear Iran had enriched only to a low level usable for nuclear power reactor fuel..." (Read the article)
It really doesn't matter if it's true or not. Truth is no longer an absolute category. The only Truth that really matters nowadays is whatever the majority of Americans believe the truth to be. Even if it were to be unequivocally proven that Iran didn't intend to make any nuclear weapons, 51% of Americans will still believe that it did. I wouldn't be surprised if 51% of Americans believe that Iran has nukes already, just like they believe Iraq did. That's the same 51% who would have hard time finding Iran or Iraq on the map. The same 51% that have pro-war bumper stickers on their trucks. The same 51% who think that ""Thou Shall not Kill" should be posted on every corner among the other 9 Hebrew postulates. And the same 51% that fail to see the extreme irony of being pro-war and Christian at the same time... One would think it’s an oxymoron...
Modern Americans don’t need to change themselves according to reality, truth, nature, or the world. Instead they simply change the truth, change the reality, change nature and the world. If the reality doesn’t fit what you already believe it – then it’s not the right reality. If the Bible says something that doesn’t fit your beliefs, lifestyle, or political stand – it doesn’t mean that you are not a very good Christian, God probably meant something else. Right?
In memory of George Orwell:
- Thou shalt not kill Americans and their allies
- Thou shalt not commit adultery with same sex partners
- Thou shalt not steal from rich people
- Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor unless your neighbor is an evil country and it helps you to destroy it
- Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's. Instead covet a house better than thy neighbor's, covet a prettier wife than thy neighbor's, covet more servants than thy neighbor has, a bigger ox, a slimmer ass, and everything else better than thy neighbor's. It's capitalism, baby, Yeah!
